About Ben

Ben Tedds is an award-winning sci-fi & drama writer and development researcher from Wiltshire, United Kingdom. He specialises in high-concept pieces with a strong focus on character.

 

Best known for his work on the Doctor Who franchise, Ben has so far written four audio stories for Big Finish Productions, featuring acclaimed actors such as Sophie Aldred, Bhavnisha Parmar, Jacob Dudman and Clare Corbett. His first, The Best-Laid Plans, won the Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trips Opportunity in 2019, after competition from over 500 other pitches. In 2020 he was longlisted for the BBC Young Writer’s Award.

A graduate of the University of Chichester, where he studied BA Screenwriting, Ben seeks to develop a career in film and television. He kickstarted this in 2024 by gaining an ITV Development Traineeship at Plimsoll Productions, beating 200 applicants to the role. He has since continued at Plimsoll in a Development Researcher role, developing projects for broadcasters and streamers including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney+, Discovery+, National Geographic, Fox, Sky, and the History Channel. His development credits include National Geographic's upcoming docudrama Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston.
